When I photographed Graham Greene he had just published “J’Accuse”, his account of the treatment of Martine Guy by the milieu over her divorce and the custody of her children. Martine was the daughter of his companion Yvonne Cloetta. His apartment in Antibe had been broken into and he was waiting for the builders to fit a new door. Later I sent him the picture and he replied that he looked as though he was carrying the weight of the world’s problems on his shoulders.
