When
I went to his showrooms to photograph Jacobs I was at a loss to know how
to include any background in the picture. It all seemed too familiar: the
samples of material, the drawings pinned to boards, the racks of clothes,
the assistants and the rows of Asian women at their sewing machines. What
had first struck me about him was his long hair and granite looks, and this
seemed enough. |
