I saw a photograph of Francis Bacon in a magazine and immediately wanted to photograph him myself. I remembered a painter who taught at The Royal College of Art who knew him well. He very kindly arranged it for me. They arrived at the studio and Mr. Bacon fell asleep as soon as he sat down in front of the camera.
